Contracts Assistant

Description of the Job

The position provides support to the Office of Sponsored Programs. Responsibilities include:
Encourage and support VCU?s research activities by serving as a liaison on matters related to non-funded agreements, including material transfer agreements, data use agreements, and confidential disclosure agreements. Draft, review, and negotiate agreements for compliance with federal, state, and VCU laws/regulations/policies/procedures. Prepare final documents for execution by an Authorized Official. Ensure work is completed accurately and promptly. Independently manage workload and priorities. Track and document activities in RAMS-SPOT, ensuring that tasks are recorded, monitored, and completed according to current office procedures. Coordinate with the Contracts Manager on unusual or complex situations

Required Qualifications

Excellent customer service skills.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Administrative support experience.
Ability to be organized and precise in execution of work.
Proven ability to attend to details and meet deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with a wide variety of people in person, on the phone, electronically.
Demonstrated ability to use sound judgment.
Ability to work in a diverse environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity/experience working with database applications and ability to learn
specialized applications, such as customized RAMS-SPOT (Research Administration Management
System-Sponsored Programs Online Tracking).
BA or BS in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Some experience working in a university setting, preferably related to research administration.
