Job Summary

The Department of Astronomy is seeking a highly skilled and organized individual that will provide high-level support to research projects in the Formation and Evolution of Planetary Systems Research Group. A range of technical projects are in progress, which are diverse and can be broad in scope. Candidates must be able to communicate effectively with diverse working groups and teams, including co-investigators and collaborators across the University of Michigan, nationally, and internationally.


Collect, compile, and summarize project relevant data and information.

Edit and or compose written summaries and create graphic representations (tables, charts) of data and information for project team leadership.

Keep project teams informed of timeline goals, action items and project status.

Schedule meetings and maintain agendas, minutes, and timelines for projects

Communicate with and compile information from project stakeholders (including sub-contractors and industrial collaborators).

Track work packages within projects, measuring progress against plan.

Required Qualifications*

Requires a minimum of Bachelor?s degree or two to four years of experience.

Must have highly effective interpersonal and communication skills

Must be proficient with Microsoft software programs including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel.

Ability to prioritize with general supervision and complete assignments accurately and efficiently.

Ability to communicate effectively with diverse working groups and teams

Desired Qualifications*

2 to 4 years of experience providing support for complex project needs

Experience with University data systems, organizational structures and policies

Work Schedule

Monday-Friday, 10-15 hrs/week, flexible. At least 50% of time will be scheduled between 9:30am-3:30pm to facilitate communication with PI and local team.

Additional Information

$20 per hour, approximately 10-15 hours per week.
