GatorNights Student Assistant
All student employees within the J. Wayne Reitz Union must:
Be a current University of Florida full-time student in good standing with at least a 2.0+ GPA.
Respond to and assist with emergency situations and building evacuations per department procedures or as instructed by building management staff.
Possess exceptional customer service while maintaining a high level of professionalism that upholds the mission of the JWRU to all patrons.
Demonstrate a desire and willingness to learn in a fast-paced team-oriented environment.
Establish an exemplary work ethic by being productive, self-motivated, and dependable.
Participate in all scheduled meetings, trainings, evaluations, and personal and professional development opportunities.
Act as an ambassador for J. Wayne Reitz Union as well as the University of Florida, providing accurate information involving the JWRU and campus resources.
Position Specific Responsibilities:
Assist GatorNights Managers and Assistant Managers on duty with tasks throughout the night which includes assisting with set-up and take down of an event, load-in and load-out for events, and maintaining safety and cleanliness of facilities throughout event.
Provide hospitality needs and fill customer service requests from performers and speakers at special GatorNights events.
Assist with concession stand and food bar staffing and cleanliness of food court following midnight breakfast.
Ensure that all events are meeting the required staffing needs, large event safety procedures are followed, and staffing specific events when required.
Promote GatorNights events through the use of word of mouth marketing, flyers, and event signs.
Act as an ambassador and advocate for the GatorNights late night programs as well as the J. Wayne Reitz Union.
Conduct event management responsibilities that ensure overall participant safety.
Completes all training requirements upon being hired in a timely fashion.
Ability to commit to working 10 or more hours per week.
Other duties as assigned.
This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through Other Personnel Services (OPS) or Federal Work-Study (FWS) and must maintain a 2.0 grade point average. Registered students are employed on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours per week.
Although no experience is necessary to apply to the J. Wayne Reitz Union GatorNights staff, and all training will be provided, we would prefer for all student employee candidates to:
Demonstrate previous experience with customer service
CPR and First Aid Certified, or willing to obtain
Proficient with verbal and written communication
Demonstrate ability to work in a large group setting as well as work independently
This position will require the ability to work Friday's between 6:00pm - 2:00am
This position will require candidates to be able to demonstrate a flexibility in their schedule to promote GatorNights events 2 - 3 hours a week on week days.
