About the College/Department

The Transit and Parking Department is responsible for the operation of Razorback Transit, a public mass transit system serving the University of Arkansas campus and about half the city of Fayetteville; the Safe Ride program, providing transportation for students after-hours; a Charter Bus Service for campus affiliates; the Razorbike program, a loaner bicycle program for students, staff and faculty; and the campus parking program, consisting of four parking garages and over 100 parking lots.

Summary of Job Duties

The Parking Control Officer is responsible for the coordination of the parking control staff and parking facilities.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

  • The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma
  • At least one year of experience in parking control or related work

Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate degree or advance specialized or technical training
  • At least one year of prior experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Knowledge of campus parking rules and regulations
  • Knowledge of handheld computers and radio procedures
  • Knowledge of basic rules of conflict resolution
  • Knowledge of parking and building locations and parking enforcement procedures
  • Ability to oversee the activities of part-time employees
  • Ability to provide parking assistance for the campus and proper enforcement
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing

Temperatures typically below 32 degrees for periods of more than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions, such as wind and humidity., The employee is subject to extreme heat. Temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions, such as wind and humidity.
