The Communication & Design Manager will be responsible for a variety of tasks and functions that support the broad range of communication needs for the Office of Child Development ( OCD ). The incumbent will assist with the development and implementation of a communication strategy for OCD , which includes strategic systems, activities, messaging, and branding to help improve both internal and external communication.
Responsibilities will include reviewing, revising, developing, designing, and managing print, web-based, and social media content and materials. The incumbent will also work closely with OCD staff to identify communication and design needs that report and disseminate knowledge from research to specific audiences. Additional responsibilities include providing education and training that can improve communication capacity for OCD staff as well as external partner organizations.
Minimum Related Experience Level Required
3-5 years experience
Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position
Bachelor?s Degree in Communications or relevant field required. Incumbent must have a demonstrated ability to read and understand scholarly publications in Rhetoric, Communication, and other relevant disciplines, and apply research-based principles of communication in the development and creation of communication materials. Incumbent must have excellent written and visual communication design skills and must have a working knowledge of desktop publishing software, such as Adobe Creative Suite.
Child Protection Clearances
The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
For position finalists, employment with the University will require successful completion of a background check.
