The University of Pittsburgh?s Department of Critical Care Medicine ( CCM ) is seeking an Application Developer who will provide programming support for web and client application development in an established clinical research data team.
The incumbent will design and construct complex applications for data collection and analysis related to clinical research studies and strategic departmental initiatives.
Primary duties include: working with research investigators and faculty to design and implement applications, data structures, and collection systems; develop quality control procedures; assisting in the design and implementation of systems for flow and organization of data; laboratory specimen collection and inventory mechanisms; and procedures to extract and evaluate data. The Incumbent will produce data extractions, summaries, and reports (including constructing real-time reports using Crystal Reports and/or VBA ).
The position requires a broad set of web development and data management capabilities and expertise. Experience related to medical research is a definite plus. Requirements include bachelor?s degree in Information Science, Computer Science, or commensurate education and experience as well as skill in database design, programming, and statistical experience.
The applicant is expected to have intermediate to advanced skills in .Net framework, ASP . NET , and VBA . Also, an intermediate set of data management capabilities in MS SQL Server and t- SQL .
A minimum of 5 years of application development and two or more years of data management experience is desired. The incumbent must be highly analytical and work well independently and as a team. Excellent communication and analytic skills are a must.

Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position
Baccalaureate degree in Computer Science or equivalent training.
Child Protection Clearances
The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
