Normal Work Schedule: Monday-Thursday 1:00 pm-10:00pm. Friday, 8:00am- 4:45 pm


Job Summary: The Learning Resource Center Specialist manages the day-to-day operations of the Independent Study Lab.


Additional Department Summary: The Learning Specialist is responsible for the delivery of learning skills support for individual and groups of students by providing learning skills/strategies programming. This position will be responsible for delivery of study skills workshops, presentations to campus constituents, and will provide one on one assistance to students. Under limited supervision, the Learning Resource Specialist will manage the day-to-day operations of the Learning Resource Lab and responsibilities may include the supervision of Center for Academic Success student assistants; accurately maintaining visit records and data, organizing, and updating of Lab resource materials, and assisting students in the utilization of Learning Resource Lab resources, programs and services. This position requires non-traditional work hours: Monday through Thursday, approximately 1:15 pm to 10:00 pm and Friday 8:00-4:45


Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree.


Skills and Knowledge: Ability to develop rapport and build productive relationships with students and campus colleagues while serving as a liaison to the academic resources available within the Center for Academic Success and the UA campus. Use of personal computers and standard application software (word processing, spreadsheet and/or database management programs). Good organizational, communication and public relations skills.


Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with The University of Alabama environment. Supervisory experience.
