Research Technician

This position is for a lab coordinator and research technician who will work in the Interdisciplinary Affective Science Laboratory. The position includes maintaining efficiency in a large, on-campus psychology lab while assisting postdoctoral fellows and graduate students with psychophysiological and behavioral tasks. Responsibilities include: recruiting, interviewing, and hiring undergraduate research assistants to work in the lab and providing basic training for these undergraduates; tracking and ordering supplies; planning weekly laboratory meetings; tracking and reconciling grant purchases on a monthly basis; tracking participant cash; providing administrative support to the laboratory; experimental design and implementation; recruitment, scheduling, screening and running of study participants; computer trouble-shooting including hardware and software issues and upgrades; laboratory equipment trouble-shooting and testing, supervising undergraduate research assistants; data management, including data entry, data backup, data reduction and simple data analysis; assisting with preparation of talks, manuscripts and grant applications; programming in E-prime and/or Matlab; administrative work related to interacting with the IRB and laboratory documentation.


BS/BA in Psychology, Neuroscience, or related field required; knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint or Keynote; familiarity with Mac and PC computer software and hardware; excellent communication skills, including writing. Must be able to work a regular Monday through Friday schedule. Must have strong interpersonal skills and be customer service oriented. Must be highly organized and able to multi-task. HIGHLY DESIRABLE: experience with administrative tasks, experience with psychophysiological methods, knowledge of SPSS or other data analysis software, experience with programming in Matlab or E-prime
