Global Experience Office Overview:

The Global Experience Office (GEO) is a central office of global education at Northeastern University, committed to ensuring that every Northeastern student has an opportunity to engage in intellectually challenging and culturally enriching experiences throughout the world. To achieve this, GEO partners with Northeastern colleges and units to integrate global experiences into their curricula and to enhance their capacity in operating global programs. GEO's own signature programs are carefully designed and operated to complement students' on-campus studies, to deepen students' knowledge of the world and their chosen field of study, develop intercultural and political sensitivity, utilize and strengthen foreign language skills, and help students explore global career options. Through these programs, GEO facilitates global experiences for over 2,700 NU students and 200 additional foreign incoming students.

Position Overview:

With supervision from the Senior Associate Director, the Curriculum Integration Manager (CIM) builds and maintains an extensive familiarity with the Northeastern University curricula and GEO's partners' curricula through research and communications with departments and colleges. The CIM maintains and grows a comprehensive database of GEO partner unique strengths and available subject areas to inform Northeastern departments and administrators. In conjunction with the colleges, the CIM identifies gaps in Northeastern curricula and areas for enhancement and recommends solutions for building intentional study abroad programming into the curriculum. The CIM creates and maintains a repository of best practices and creative solutions to curricular integration developed by Northeastern departments and colleges, and develops a system of sharing the best practices across the University.

The CIM acts as GEO's liaison to the academic departments and Colleges, helps develop advising tools integrating global experiences into degree progression, and ensures that GEO materials and advising practices accurately reflect curricular requirements and college policies. The CIM conducts workshops around curriculum integration and course mapping with Northeastern colleges and departments and create program and curriculum integration guides for students.

In conjunction with Senior Associate Director, the CIM will collaborate with the Life-long Learning Network to ensure complementary and integrated course offerings in visiting student programs on Northeastern satellite campuses.

The CIM contributes to the success GEO regional ?pods? - teams of advisors, program designers, and operations coordinators, who collaborate to ensure quality of programming and continuity of services to GEO's key audiences - by keeping everyone up-to-date on the latest developments and needs in curricular integration across the University.


  • Master?s degree required.
  • 3+ years of academic administrative experience in higher education required. Experience in a university-level study abroad office a plus.
  • 2+ years of experience working with curriculum.
  • Working knowledge of the US Higher Education administration and familiarity with international higher education systems, degree structures and progressions, pedagogies and methodologies, and approaches to credits and grades.
  • Working knowledge of higher education systems outside of the United States.
  • Previous experience studying abroad at the undergraduate level or time living abroad.
  • Demonstrated commitment to international education and the promotion of cross-cultural understanding.
  • Understanding of NAFSA (Association of International educators), professional ethics and competencies.
  • Excellent problem-solving and strong analytical skills with proven ability to strategize, prioritize, and multi-task to meet goals and deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, sufficient to work effectively and collaboratively with a number of different constituencies. Professionalism and collegiality in a team environment, excellent judgment, discretion, and the ability to make decisions in a timely manner.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including intercultural and interpersonal communication.
  • Ability to effectively represent the University to outside institutions and universities
  • Ability to interact with global program representatives, faculty, and students in a highly professional manner with an understanding of protocol and confidentiality.
  • Strong organizational, project management, administrative, and computer skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office software required. Familiarity with Salesforce, Terra Dotta, and student record systems (e.g., Banner) preferred.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
