Job Description

Student Success Coach

Provide coaching and support student success, retention and progression to graduation; provide individualized student outreach to primarily non-traditional aged students who are returning to IUPUI to complete their degree. Connect students to relevant campus resources; monitor and track progress of students; maintain communication with faculty and staff in support of students.

Provide individual coaching to returning non-traditional students seeking to complete a college degree. Work with students to develop academic and career goals and plans. Develop understanding of requirements and other elements of academic majors targeted for Degree Completers. Develop and maintain collaborative partnerships with student services, advising, career, and academic staff in schools supporting students in Degree Completion degree programs.

Work with individual students to develop realistic goals that will contribute to academic and personal success in college; develop relationships that foster developmental conversation; motivate students to achieve educational goals. Refer and connect students with relevant University resources; coordinate with University stakeholders regarding additional outreach and support. Monitor and records progress of individual students; maintaining consistent and confidential records of individual student data

Assist students in understanding and navigating alternative and flexible credit options such as Prior Learning Assessments, Competency Based Education, and online courses. Provide individualized outreach to students based on identified risk factors including academic, financial and personal needs; assist them in developing individual plans for success.

Assist with events to recruit potential students to Degree Completion degree programs. Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of events, programs, and resources that support Degree Completion students.

Actively participate on various committees as requested. Represent Department of Undergraduate Education at local, state, and national meetings, conferences, and/or professional associations as requested. Support initiatives of the Degree Completion Office.

Required Qualifications

REQUIRED: Master?s Degree in a related field from an accredited institution, plus 1 year of related experience; OR Bachelor?s Degree in liberal arts, general studies, counseling, or higher education and student affairs, plus 3 years of related experience.

Must have counseling skills, program development skills, understanding of adult college student success, computer skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills, organizational skills, problem-solving skills.
