Junior Account Representative

Primary Function

Responsible for charge entry as assigned including timely and accurate posting of charges via Anesthesia Module, TES and BAR.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform both time based and non-time based charge entry
  • Review anesthesia module keys against the PDF records thoroughly prior to charge entry
  • Reconcile each charge assigned and reporting charges that were not posted to supervisor
  • Verify that primary procedure and physical status modifier is indicated and determine the correct division/billing area for categorizing the charge
  • Provider QA on the anesthesia record including documentation of continuous time, missing modifiers, missing codes for invasive lines or qualifying circumstances, unlisted procedures that must be returned to coding
  • Link diagnosis codes to correct CPTs based on coding directives and notify supervisor of ICD-10s that are not sex appropriate that must be returned to coding
  • Verify that donor and recipient cases are linked for transplant cases
  • Link No Fault and Worker?s Comp keys to cases
  • Determine the appropriate FSC from the financial comments from the registration team and monitor FSCs based on the practices enrollment status
  • Review and submit non time based charges from Allscripts into TES
  • Provide feedback to supervisor regarding providers
  • Run anesthesia calculation report and identify fatal errors
  • Ensures service excellence by becoming thoroughly familiar with ?Seven Principles of Behavior? and putting them into practice in carrying out job responsibilities
  • Rotates 1-2 times a week as the front desk receptionist
  • Answer and direct calls to appropriate in-house staff and other sites
  • Conforms to all applicable HIPAA, billing compliance and safety guidelines
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications/Specialized Knowledge

High school graduate or equivalent with minimum three to five years prior related work experience in physician practice plan, hospital business office preferred or bachelor?s degree with one year experience. Ability to operate electronic claims processing system. Must be knowledgeable regarding detailed claims preparation and payer specific billing requirements and reimbursement guidelines. Must have a good understanding of medical terminology and medical records coding, third party payer guidelines and reimbursement practices and available financial resources for payment of balances due.

Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. Must be able to communicate with patients, physicians, medical office staff, payers, outside agencies and the general public through face to face, telephone and written correspondence. Must demonstrate ability to effectively problem solve and make independent decisions. Requires prior work experience on personal computer, electronic calculator and various general office equipment.

Organizational Relationship

  • Reports directly to Assistant Manager Billing Operations
  • No employees are directly or indirectly supervised by this position
  • This position is employed by 61st Street Service Corporation

Salary: $27,000.00 to $28,000.00 /year
